Lydia Stubbs

Motherhood, naturally

Meet Lydia

Hi, y’all! Welcome to my slice of the internet where I’m sharing my journey through motherhood and a glimpse into my life. I’m originally from South Florida and will forever be a beach bum. I met my husband Matt in high school and married him right after I turned 21. Best decision I ever made. We have a little boy named Levi, and will welcome our second son this summer.

I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in broadcast journalism and began my career as a TV news reporter in South Georgia.

I’ve covered stories from triple homicides and rising racial tension in the South, to children battling cancer and veterans fighting PTSD with horse-riding therapy. I loved my time telling Georgians’ stories but ultimately left the daily grind of crime and heartbreak the news covers.

My husband and I moved to Dallas for his career and my hopes of breaking into the PR field in one of the fastest-growing cities. I landed a job managing Public Relations for the Dallas Zoo, one of the nation’s best and biggest accredited zoos, doing some of the most impactful work for wildlife conservation.

There, we birthed an Animal Planet hit, Giraffe Birth Live, making us the first zoo to broadcast an animal’s birth live on national TV. It was a major success and our popularity continued to grow fast. We grew our social media channels with incredible raw storytelling and we worked with local and national media, gaining brand awareness and securing our spot as a leader in our industry. I managed the Zoo’s social media channels, media relations efforts, and the visuals team. I always thrived when I could create content about our animals and staff through videography. It was a dream job no doubt.

After nearly six years with the Dallas Zoo, many worldwide births and viral videos, one trip to South Africa where I worked to save critically endangered rhino, endless sloppy giraffe kisses, and memories I’ll never forget, I started my own PR company and continued consulting for the Zoo from home with my toddler at my feet. It brought me so much joy to have the both of best worlds. However, I recently ended my time with the Zoo, a very bittersweet decision, but I’ll always remain the Dallas Zoo’s No. 1 fan.

Today you’ll find me soaking up motherhood and enjoying my babies while they’re little. I still own my PR company, Lydia Stubbs Ink., and pick up projects that I’m passionate about. I started this blog as a space to share my motherhood journey and give you an inside look into our day-to-day life.

I consider myself an eternal optimist who was raised to love and respect our planet. In this space, you’ll find natural-minded motherhood content, green-ish living resources, and tips and tricks to navigate the world of raising humans.

I’m so glad you’re here and supporting me in this journey. I hope I bring some value to your life while sharing stories from my heart. Cheers!
